Parent Child Interaction Therapy
In addition to working with individuals, I am also certified in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) through PCIT International. This specialized evidence based treatment helps families strengthen their attachments and manage behavioral concerns in children ages 2-8. You will learn to deepen your understanding of the underlying emotions that drive your child’s behaviors and support them in building emotional regulation skills. You will practice in real time how to improve your child’s behavior through positive reinforcement, relationship enhancement, and a clear and consistent strategy for managing behavioral concerns. I will teach you specific skills to use when interacting with your child and will coach you with a headset through a one-way mirror towards mastery of these skills. The most impactful benefit I witness through this coaching program is increased harmony in the family. Your child’s acting out behaviors will be greatly reduced, you will have a clear and consistent strategy for managing behavioral concerns, and most importantly you will enjoy interacting with your child more. Treatment generally runs 12-20 weeks with consistent attendance and practice at home.
